Over the years I have constantly pondered the thought of why my parents would choose such a random name as Kenan. You never herd about someone named Kenan doing something historic except for being a comedian on Saturday Nigh Live. So I decided why not give it a shot and see if my name has any meaning or significance or if my parents were just huge SNL fans. It turns out, to my relief, the name Kenan holds religious importance in Christianity, as well as possessing a Hebrew origin meaning to acquire. It comes also from the Irish decent, which makes sense that both my mom and dad's decedents coming from that area of Europe. However, I also learned about the meaning of my middle name Oliver, and why I had it changed when I was ten years old. My mother had a nanny growing up by the name of Olivia. There is a major divide in America due to the high racial tensions between White and Black people. The issue is mainly sourced about the feeling of inequality between the races and social unjust towards African- Americans. However, this picture counters the stereotype of racial tension by depicting a friendship between the two "brothers" despite the racial issues presented in America.        Wing Young Huie and Margaret Atwood both show the concept of othering via presenting two social groups and enabling one to have a perceived hierarchy over the other group.
